Stock & Stage 1 Banks Sidewinder Rebuilds
When Banks originally designed the wastegated sidewinder turbo kits for 6.9/7.3 IDIs, they used a proprietary Mitsubishi turbo which was not rebuildable. If the turbo failed, Banks simply sold you a new one a would not rebuild it, however with Banks no longer supporting the 6.9/7.3 IDI platform, we have created a way to rebuild and upgrade these turbos without having to replace the entire assembly.
The stage one turbo upgrade replaces the 55mm cast compressor wheel with our new 62mm billet wheel which is based on the Garrett Gen 2 G series G35-990, which is capable of flowing 80 lbs min and supporting 300 hp. Not only is this billet wheel larger, and 30 years ahead in turbo tech, but it is also significantly lighter which aids in a quicker spool up. This wheel also features the CDD logo laser engraved, so our turbos are easily identifiable. The turbine wheel is also replaced with a completely new unit which will aid in quicker spool up, and significantly improve exhaust flow.
Cores must be sent free of accessories (oil fitings, downpipe elbow, wastegate actuator) must be removed prior to shipping.
We will purchase your stock supercore in any condition (see core buyback page), or you can opt to send your turbo supercore upfront (do not send turbine housing) for a reduced cost on your order.
